Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of 330,000 in South East Essex and has a total of about 940 beds. It has embarked on a multi-million pound redevelopment programme that will include expanding intensive care and replacing old wards with new.
In support of this redevelopment The Green Consultancy has provided Low Carbon Design Advice and an Energy Efficiency Audit of existing buildings which identified extensive energy/carbon opportunities and enabled the size of planned replacement boiler plant to be massively reduced. We also provided a board level workshop on sustainability and CRC.
“We will be in CRC and wanted to understand the implications. The NHS also has wider environmental targets and we needed a picture of how these fitted together. We asked the Green Consultancy to run a workshop to explain CRC in detail and give us an overview of related NHS initiatives.
The workshop achieved its objectives and helped focus our minds on what we needed to do next. It was an excellent afternoon.”
