ISO 50001, the first international Energy Management Standard launched today
ISO 50001, published by the International Standards Organisation this week and launched in Geneva today, will be used by organisations to drive down energy consumption and carbon emmisions, and demonstrate to key stakeholders that they have robust processes to manage their energy consumption.
The standard covers best practice for measuring energy usage, setting targets and performance indicators, and identifying opportunities for reducing consumption.
The standard was agreed by ISO after several years of development by energy experts from more than 60 countries including one of The Green Consultancy’s consultants and many colleagues in ESTA.
The standard will replace the existing British Energy Management Standard, BS EN 16001, which will be phased out by mid-2012.
The Green Consultancy offers a comprehensive range of services to organisations in relation to ISO 50001. more
“ISO 50001 is a significant new global standard that will bring tremendous business value to organisations across the world that are having to grapple with rising energy costs and greater governmental climate change legislation.”
