Organisational Development for Sustainability

The change from unsustainable practices to sustainable practices involves embedding carbon reduction and other strategies into the organisational culture – it means changing “the way we do things around here.”  The Green Consultancy offers assistance with identifying the organisational development implications of the new strategy including the implications for people development, recruitment and retention.

Strategy Implementation

When the strategy has been developed and adopted, we can help to plan the roll out of the strategy across the organisation including producing a communications plan, a training and development programme and a monitoring and evaluation process.

Executive and Leadership Coaching

Where individual senior managers or leadership groups have responsibility for implementing the strategy and achieving outcomes, we can provide individual or team coaching, providing ongoing support to ensure that change happens, that obstacles are identified and solutions found to overcome them.  Feeding learning from the coaching experience back into the organisation ensures opportunities for organisational learning and further development.

Creative Change Management and Workforce Development

The implementation of a carbon reduction or sustainability strategy happens primarily through changes in what people within the organisation do.  Change usually involves a degree of friction and tension.  Handled well, friction, tension are a source of new ideas, fresh perspectives and motivation.  Handled badly, they are a source of unproductive interpersonal conflict.  We can help plan change programmes that promote collaboration and cooperation; that build people’s capacities to work creatively with competing priorities; and to develop synergy within and between teams and departments.  This is all part of building a sustainable and resilient organisation – one that makes effective and efficient use of the energy within the organisation as well as energy from without.

Workforce Engagement

Developing a sustainability or carbon reduction strategy that includes input from within the organisation may involve participation of staff, management teams and leadership groups.  We can help to design a consultation process which ensures staff engagement with the development and implementation of your strategy.  We can provide an experienced, independent facilitator to lead focus groups, discussion fora, conference events, etc.
