CRC is a major UK legal compliance requirement designed to promote increased energy efficiency and drive down carbon emissions. It has seen significant changes and is currently undergoing further review.

Since June 2009 The Green Consultancy has been working with dozens of private and public sector organisations to prepare them for CRC and to manage the ongoing requirements of the scheme.

Our comprehensive range of CRC services

If your organisation is a full participant in CRC, our services will provide the support you need to:

  • Meet CRC legal compliance obligations
  • Understand the implications behind CRC
  • Integrate CRC with other aspects of your operation, such as systems, management and reporting, corporate social responsibility, financial management, energy management, and facilities management

We can address every aspect of CRC, or just several specific areas. We can work on a fully outsourced basis or alongside in-house resources. We can act as your nominated CRC agent, and review or create complete Carbon Management Plans. Our services include:

Internal audits

CRC requires participants to carry out an internal audit (signed by the senior staff member responsible) to ensure that the scheme's legal requirements are being met. We can undertake the following key checks on your behalf:

  • Fully registered with all relevant meters and consumption accounted for
  • Review your footprint report and annual report
  • Assess your data-gathering, identification and storage procedure
  • Crosscheck your data and source list with the Environment Agency’s evidence pack criteria
  • Rate your evidence pack in relation to the Environment Agency’s benchmarks (Compliant, Compliant with Good Practice, or Compliant with Best Practice)
  • Make recommendations on how to reach the next benchmark

External Audits

We have experience of dealing with external audits carried out on behalf of the Environment Agency and can support you in that process.

Evidence packs

We can manage your evidence pack for you, keeping all records up to date. We can implement improvements in order to meet Environment Agency and internal requirements, including advising on dedicated software as appropriate.

Annual CRC reports

We’ll ensure your annual CRC report is completed accurately and submitted on time.

CRC scheme guidance

We’re perfectly placed to keep you updated on changes and developments to the scheme, and to act as your expert CRC advisor.

CRC advice for Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

“We wanted to understand the implications of CRC and the wider NHS environmental targets and we needed a picture of how these fitted together. We asked the Green Consultancy to run a board level workshop to explain CRC in detail and give us an overview of related NHS initiatives.  The workshop achieved its objectives and helped focus our minds on what we needed to do next. It was an excellent afternoon.”
